Arfur's Stories
Dylan: (comes running over to Arfur crying and in pain)
Dylan: I have something
in my finger and it hurts. 
Arfur: It looks like a splinter. What would you like to do about your splinter Dylan?
Dylan: I want to get it out
Arfur: Would you be willing to let me take your splinter out?
Dylan: (stops crying for a moment) Yeah,, but will it hurt?
Arfur: I don’t know. You will have to ask the splinter.
Jessica: (comes running over with curiosity) Hey what happened to Dylan?
Arfur: Ask Dylan!
Jessica: What happened Dylan?
Dylan: (Crying and expressing his pain) I got an oweee in my finger.
Jessica: Oh! I had an owee like that and it hurts (with empathy on her face).
Dylan: (acknowledges her concern and looks to Arfur for aid) Take it out! (More kids come over with concern on what is happening)
Jessica: Yells! Dylan has an owee. (They all hover around and I imagine with great concern over this owee. They all know the concern and pain involved with this kind of injury).
Havra: What will you do Arfur?
Arfur: Dylan has decided to let me take out his splinter.
Dylan: ( nervous voice) Arfur, take it out of my finger.
Arfur: Dylan would you go inside and become the splinter?
Dylan: Will it hurt?
Arfur: Only you can answer that. Would you like to explore what will happen?
Dylan: OK. (there is a moment of silence as Dylan inquires inside).
Arfur: Are you the Splinter?
Dylan: Yeah (has concern and some excitement).
Arfur: (addressing the splinter) Splinter what are you doing?
Splinter: I’m stuck in Dylan.
Arfur: What do you want to do.
Splinter: I want to come out.
Arfur: Splinter would you become Dylan?
Splinter: OK
Arfur: Dylan are you there?
Dylan: Un huh!
Arfur: Are you ready to let go of your splinter?
Dylan: Take him out.
There is healing energy around all of us and a feeling of great focus and seriousness. Everyone is participating in this event. Arfur carefully takes it out, as Dylan breathes out and releases his splinter. There is a sigh of relief in the children and Dylan is smiling and relieved. They all run off to play..........:)
Jenny: (appears concerned) Arfur, why is that man crying?
Arfur: Why don’t you ask him?

Jenny: (walks over cautiously with a caring posture) Why are you crying?
The Man: (looks up) Because I am sad!
Jenny: (wanting to share) When I’m sad and don’t feel good I sometimes cry too!
The Man: (looks relieved) I feel better now that I have shared my feelings with you. What’s your name?
Jenny: Jenny. What’s your name?
The Man: Johnny.
I Want to go
Jenny: (comes up to Arfur upset) I want to go home.
Arfur: How are you feeling Jenny?
Jenny: I miss my mommy. ( starts to cry). I want to see her.
Arfur: Jenny, your mom is at work and won't be here until later.
Jenny: (Starts to get angry and upset) Then I will go find her.
Arfur: Jenny, your mom wants you to stay here until she picks you up.
Jenny: (angry and frustrated) I don’t care, I want to go.
Arfur: Would you do something with me?
Jenny: (abruptly) What!
Arfur: Close your eyes for a moment.
Jenny: (closes her eyes) Now what?
Arfur: Imagine your mom and tell me when you see her?
Jenny: (starting to calm herself) Okay! I can see her.
Arfur: What do you want from her?
Jenny: I want her to hold me.
Arfur: Then ask her.
Jenny: ( tears begin to role down her cheeks and she begins to softly cry) Mommy hold me.
Arfur: (there is silence for a moment as Jenny is making a connection with her mom. Jenny is looking different now) Jenny, see if it is okay to open your eyes now.
Jenny: (opens her eyes and a little smile appears on her face)
Arfur: How do you feel now?
Jenny: I want a hug.
Jenny and Arfur hug. The feeling of wanting to go now has left and Jenny goes off to play.
I want to Hit Flash!
Dylan: (Comes running over very upset & angry) Arfur! Arfur! Flash hit me and I hate him and want to hit him.
Arfur: Dylan, would you feel better if you hit Flash and hurt him?
Dylan: ( with anger in his voice) Yeah.
Arfur: Okay, let’s pretend that Flash is this big pillow.
Dylan: (perplexing look) Okay, can I kick him too?
Arfur: Sure, you can do what ever you want to the pillow.
Dylan: ( starts to punch and kick the pillow getting very angry and Yelling) I hate you Flash. I don’t like it when you hit me. ( Dylan begins to cry and falls on the pillow and sobs).
Arfur: (allowing Dylan to feel his sadness) How are you doing Dylan?
Dylan: ( the anger has left and he appears calm now) Good.
Arfur: Do you still want to hurt Flash?
Dylan: No, but I want to tell Flash not to hurt me any more.
Arfur: Why don’t you go and do that.
(Dylan goes off to share his concerns with Flash)
How did this Tree get here?
Jacob: Arfur, how did this Tree get here?
Arfur: Ask the Tree!
Jacob: (turns to tree) Okay, tree how did you get here?
Arfur: What did the tree say?
Jacob (disappointed) He didn’t say anything.
Arfur: Jacob would you like to play a game?
Jacob: (with an expression of excitement) Yeeeesss!
Arfur: Ok, Close your eyes and become the tree.
Jacob: (He makes his body look like a tree and smiles and stands like a tree).
Arfur: Are you the tree Jacob?
Jacob: (standing like a tree) Ah huh!
Arfur: So tree, how did you grow?
Jacob: ( with a great sense of excitment and awareness) I grew from a seed!
Arfur: Now, become Jacob again and see what Jacob has to say.
Jacob: (with excitement) He grew from a seed.
My Tummee Hurts
Arfur: (Lucy is lying on the ground next to the pony
stable looking like she would like some attention) Hi Lucy, How are you
feeling?
Lucy: (In an upset voice) I don’t feel good !
Arfur: What doesn’t feel good?
Lucy: (putting her hand on her stomach) My tummee hurts
Arfur: Would you like to do something about your pain?
Lucy: Ah! Huh!
Arfur: Would you like to play a game with your pain?
Lucy: (with eyes that are searching for guidance) Okay
Arfur: Close your eyes. What do you see?
Lucy: (Lucy closes her eyes) Dark
Arfur: Do you see any light around?
Lucy: (spends a moment to look around inside) Yeah, I do see a little light.
Arfur: See if you can go to that light and tell me when you get there!
Lucy: okay (moment later with eyes still closed) I’m there!
Arfur: What do you see?
Lucy: I see a sun and it's warm.
Arfur: Jenny, would you travel to your tummee?
Lucy: How would I do that?
Arfur: Well.... take a look around to see where you are now!
Lucy: I’m by my heart.
Arfur: Okay, now your tummee is below your heart so lets travel down to your tommee.
Lucy: I can’t, I don’t know how to.
Arfur: What could you use to help your self down to your tummee?
Lucy: (thinks for a moment) I could use a rope and climb down!
Arfur: that’s great Lucy use your rope.
Lucy: (feeling good about her choice, begins her journey)
Arfur: What do you see as you are climbing down?
Lucy: (concerned) I see red and colors.
Arfur: How do you feel Lucy?
Lucy: I feel a little scared (sadness comes over her face and tears begin to well up in her eyes)
Arfur: Is there a place you could rest for a moment?
Lucy: (Softly) Yeah
Arfur: Go to that place
Arfur: Are you there Lucy?
Lucy: Yes
Arfur: What do you feel scared about?
Lucy: I miss my mommy ( tears begin to pour out and crying starts as Lucy lets go of her feelings)
Arfur: (watches as Lucy begins to stop crying, a feeling of joy comes over her and a smile begins to form on her spirit). What’s happening now Lucy?
Lucy: ( opens her eyes) I don’t feel scared anymore!
Arfur: How’s your tummee?
Lucy: ( big smile) It doesn’t hurt anymore( Lucy runs off to play )
Lucy’s Rock
Lucy: (runs over with great frustration and excitement on her face) Arfur, Dylan won’t give me my rock.
Arfur: Tell Dylan.
Lucy: I did and he still won’t give it to me.
Arfur: What do you want me to do?
Lucy: Get the rock from Dylan!
Arfur: I will go over with you and work with both of you, will that be okay with you?
Lucy: Okay
(We found Dylan and he’s feeling like something is going to happen. Lucy runs to him and demands her rock)
Lucy: Dylan give me my rock.
Dylan: No
Lucy: (begins to raise her arm to hit Dylan).
Arfur: (quickly announces) Lucy stop, my fear is that you want to hit Dylan. Is that true?
Lucy: Yes, I do (lowers her arm and turns toward Arfur).
Lucy: See, he won’t give me my rock.
Arfur: Dylan is that Lucy's rock?
Dylan; Yeah!
Arfur: How come you don’t want to give Lucy her rock?
Dylan: Because.
Arfur: Well guys how would you like to settle this rock drama?
Lucy: I know, let’s look for a rock for Dylan.
Arfur: What about that Dylan, would you like to look for another rock and give that rock back to Lucy?
Dylan: Okay!
Dylan: (hands the rock over to Lucy and he takes her other hand and they go off togerther in search of a rock for Dylan )
Dylan bit me
Lucy: (comes running over crying and very upset) Arfur! Arfur!, Dylan bit me.
Arfur: Where did he bite you?
Lucy: (crying) On my face.
Arfur: What do you want right now?
Lucy: I want you to hold me.
Arfur: (takes Lucy in his arms and holds and comforts her).
Lucy: (starts to cry more and then after awhile begins to calm down and begins to speak) I want to bite Dylan. (anger rises in her voice)
Arfur: What if we made that teddy bear over there Dylan? Could you bite it?
Lucy: (yells) I don’t want to bite that teddy bear, I want to bite Dylan.
Arfur: Let
s pretend its Dylan and see what happens when
you bite the teddy bear.
Lucy: ( with reluctance Lucy goes over to the teddy bear
and begins to bite it)
( soon there are sounds of growling and anger and Lucy throws the bear down
to the ground and stomps on it with her feet).
Arfur: (waits untill Lucy is finished with her anger) What’s happening?
Lucy: (relieved) I feel happy now, it was fun to bite the bear.
The Chest with No Key ?
Jezzy: had been getting a sore throat on and off for about a year and was concerned about why his throat was sore all the time.
Jezzy: Arfur, why does my throat keep getting sore, I don’t like having this feeling.
Arfur: I don’t know, would you like to ask your throat.
Jezzy: How do I do that?
Arfur You might have to travel down to your throat and talk with it. Do you think you could do that?
Jezzy: I’ll try ! will you help me.
Arfur: Sure. Close your eyes and go down to your throat and tell me when you get there.
Jezzy: (closes his eyes and begins his journey inward) Okay I’m there.
Arfur: Look around inside and tell me what you see?
Jezzy: Its dark and I cant see anything.
Arfur: What could you do for a light so you could see?
Jezzy: I could get a flashlight.
Arfur: Okay! Get a flashlight.
Jezzy : ( Jezzy has his eyes closed and appears to be searching for something and then he responds). I have one ( with excitement).
Arfur: Good , can you see now?
Jezzy: Yeah I can see now !
Arfur: What do you see?
Jezzy: I see a big wooden chest.
Arfur: Can you open the chest.
Jezzy: No it’s locked
Arfur: Is there a key around?
Jezzy: No, I don’t see any key.
Arfur: Look around, maybe its hidden.
Jezzy: (all of sudden Jezzy’s face lights up and
announces) I found a key it was under the chest.
Arfur: Great! Do you want to open your chest?
Jezzy: Yes, but I’m scared what will be inside.
Arfur: Do you want to take a risk?
Jezzy: Okay ( with hesitation Jezzy opens the chest, his face becomes very sad and tears begin to roll down his face and he becomes very quiet).
Arfur: What do you see Jezzy?
Jezzy: The chest is full of my feelings (Jezzy starts to cry even more now).
Arfur: What do you want to do with your feelings?
Jezzy: (Jezzy pauses for a moment and a smile appears on his face a sense of release takes over) I can let my feelings out of my chest.
Arfur: How does your throat feel now?
Jezzy: It doesn’t hurt any more. Could we have a baseball catch?
Arfur: I’d love to.
